Press Gang Cellars
Since 2010, Kyle and Savanna Knapp have been crafting small batches of exciting wines from some of the most interesting vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Press Gang fruit is hand-picked, hand-sorted, and fermented with native yeast. They love the "tried and true", classic winemaking methods, but also employ progressive techniques in the cellar.
A Lompoc native and avid surfer, Kyle learned winemaking from the ground up—starting with harvest at a local winery. A vintage abroad in Western Australia sealed the deal, and he’s been chasing the craft ever since. Back home in SBC, he has worked his way up in winery cellars, and today is Head Winemaker at Stolpman Vineyards.
From the beginning, Kyle and Savanna set out to do things a little differently—against the grain, you might say. The resulting wines are modern, full of character, a little edgy, and a lot of fun to drink.
